Bergen-Lafayette Montessori School students begin each school year the day after Labor Day. For the following six weeks classes go through what is known as the “Normalization Period” in Montessori education. During this time the classroom community begins to form bonds with one another and the children learn how to complete the Montessori Work Cycle, which leads to them being able to focus and concentrate on self-selected work for extended periods of time and derive self-satisfaction from their efforts.

Once a classroom is Normalized it is a balanced ecosystem and therefore any family wishing to enroll a child after our Normalization Period is over will go through the following process to determine if mid-year enrollment is right for their child:
